National Society of the
Daughters of the American Revolution
The Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890
and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit,
non-political volunteer women's service organization
dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American
history, and securing America's future through better
education for children. As one of the most inclusive
genealogical societies in the country, DAR boasts 165,000
members in 3,000 chapters across the US internationally. Any
woman 18 years or older-regardless of race, religion, or
ethnic background who can prove lineal descent from a
patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for
membership.DAR members volunteer more than 60,000 hours
annually.
Peggy Hurd joined
NSDAR over 35 years ago. Peggy currently serves the National
Society as Treasurer General. She previously served as
Arizona State Society Regent 2000 – 2002. She chairs the
Investment Committee and is a member of the Finance
Committee for the National Society. She is a retired
executive from Qwest Communications. She is a member of the
National Association of Parliamentarians and is the
immediate past President of Arizona Alpha Unit. Peggy is a
member of Grande Valley Republican Women and is a former
member of Mesa Republican Women. Peggy has been married for
38 years to Jerry and together they reside in Casa Grande
where she and her husband are active in their church and
community. Skipper, the terrier and Snooks, the cat complete
the family. In her free time, Peggy enjoys gardening, hiking
