President’s Message September 2015

September 5, 2015 By Tiana Smith

It’s looking to be a busy month as we are off to State and National conventions this week in Phoenix and then having our fun night at Roadhouse Cinema on September 24th. I believe our editor will also update us on a fundraiser for the local GOP and I hope you will consider supporting that organization with time, money, or both.

I confess to a pet peeve and it is this: the use of the word RINO. It frustrates and saddens me when I see people who disagree on a particular candidate resort to calling the other a RINO and impugning their character in general. We can’t say we are a big tent and different than the lockstep Democrats when we treat other Republicans so poorly for those different beliefs. Facebook may be a great way to share your thoughts and articles, events, but it also seems to bring on the meanness too readily.

With that thought in mind, remember the comic strip “Pogo” by Walt Kelly, in which the lead character says “We have met the enemy and he is us”?  Let’s do our best to not have that be true and keep our eye on what is important: electing the best Republicans to office.  Thanks for listening!
